The Faculty of Music benefits from its position within Cambodia’s leading private arts institution, offering students a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment in which to develop their artistry and musical expertise. As one of only two degree-granting music schools in the country - and the only institution in Cambodia to offer a Master’s degree in Music - the Faculty plays a vital role in shaping the nation’s musical landscape. With a commitment to student-centered learning, artistic excellence, and cultural relevance, the Faculty prepares the next generation of performers, composers, educators, and scholars to contribute meaningfully to both Cambodia’s cultural heritage and the global music community.
Situated within a dynamic and interdisciplinary academic environment, the Faculty of Music offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in piano performance, instrumental performance, vocal performance, and composition.

Degree Programs
Composition, BA
This program provides students with a comprehensive foundation in music theory, compositional techniques, and creative exploration across classical, contemporary, and intercultural styles. Through one-on-one mentorship with experienced faculty, students develop their own artistic voice while gaining proficiency in orchestration, score preparation, and digital notation tools. Unique to Phnom Penh University of the Arts, the program offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with peers in dance, visual design, media arts, and technology – encouraging the creation of original works that reflect both individual expression and cultural relevance. Graduates are prepared for professional careers in composition, arranging, music production, and academic research, as well as further graduate study.
Instrumental Performance, BA
This program provides students with focused training in instrumental performance through individual instruction, ensemble work, and juried evaluations. Students develop technical mastery and musical expression across a range of repertoire while gaining real-world orchestral experience through participation in the Phnom Penh Symphony Orchestra. As part of Cambodia’s only university offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees in music, students benefit from interdisciplinary collaboration and a creative academic environment. Graduates are prepared for careers as soloists, chamber and orchestral musicians, educators, and contributors to Cambodia’s evolving cultural landscape, as well as for further graduate study.
Piano Performance, BA
This program provides students with intensive training in piano performance, focusing on technical development, expressive interpretation, and a broad repertoire spanning classical and contemporary styles. Through one-on-one instruction, collaborative performance opportunities, and juried evaluations, students refine their artistic identity and professional readiness. With access to Cambodia’s only graduate-level music program and the opportunity to perform in solo recitals, chamber groups, and with the Phnom Penh Symphony Orchestra, students gain valuable real-world experience. Graduates are prepared for careers as soloists, accompanists, educators, and collaborative artists, as well as for further graduate study.
Voice Performance, BA
This program provides students with intensive training in vocal performance, focusing on healthy vocal technique, expressive interpretation, and a diverse repertoire spanning classical, contemporary, and popular styles. Through individualized instruction, ensemble work, and regular performance opportunities, students develop the skills and confidence needed for both the concert stage and commercial music settings. With access to Cambodia’s only graduate-level music program and opportunities to collaborate with the Phnom Penh Symphony Orchestra and other cross-disciplinary projects in design and media, students receive a well-rounded and industry-relevant education. Graduates are prepared for careers as solo performers, ensemble artists, vocal coaches, educators, and recording artists, as well as for further graduate study.
