Undergraduate Admissions

The four-year PPUA undergraduate program caters to high school graduates aspiring to pursue studies in classical and popular music, design, multimedia systems, education, languages, dance, and theater.

Our program offers comprehensive curricula tailored for future professional artists, educators, and innovators in digital media, software, and networking technology, emphasizing:

PPUA’s international programs, conducted in English, prepare students for global engagement, enabling them to emerge as leaders in their fields both nationally and globally. Our curriculum fosters well-rounded artists, arts leaders, educators, and innovators, equipping them with profound insights into the world and themselves.

Application Requirements

For students graduating from a high school that requires them to take the Cambodian National Examination:

  • A provisional high school diploma

For students graduating from a high school outside of Cambodia, or a school in Cambodia that does not require the Cambodian National Examination:

  • A high school diploma certified by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.

 

All applicants who do not meet the English proficiency requirements listed above must take an English proficiency test administered by PPUA.

Results of this test will determine whether the student enters the English preparatory program or the collegiate program.

*It is recommended that applicants take the PPUA placement test. There is a non-refundable fee of $5 USD for the English Proficiency Test, payable at the time of testing.

Music Majors

  • Instrumental, Piano, and Voice majors: Be prepared to perform two pieces, representing contrasting styles.
  • Composition majors: Be prepared to share a recent composition, play an instrument, sing, or demonstrate your musical interests and aptitude.

Design Majors

  • Prepare a portfolio containing at least five pieces of your artwork.

Additional Application Information

Students who are unable to submit all materials at the time of application may receive conditional admission. Students who fail to submit missing materials within the first semester are required to meet with the Director of Academic Affairs for a determination for continuance at PPUA or withdrawal from the university.

Transfer applicants must meet the same standards as entering first-year students. Transfer students must submit the same documentation as entering first-year students and must also submit additional material as below by the application deadline.

A. Transfer to same major

Student will transfer into second year or third year depend on decision of faculties member meeting. Documents required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Foundation Year Certificate
  • Official Transcript

B. Transfer to different major

Students who have a foundation year certificate can transfer into second year status for different major (makeup of major subjects will be required).  Documents required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Foundation Year Certificate

Tuition & Financial Aid

All Majors in the Faculty of Arts and Design, Faculty of Dance and Theater, and Faculty of Music:
  • Tuition: $1500 USD per semester
  • Administrative Fees: $100 USD per year
All Majors in the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Information Technology:
  • Tuition: $750 USD per semester
  • Administrative Fees: $100 USD per year

PPUA offers financial aid and scholarships up to 100% based on merit and financial need. Those receiving financial aid will be required to participate in PPUA’s work study program. The areas of work study placements offered will be available at the time of acceptance.

Terms & Conditions | Phnom Penh Design Festival 2024

==ELIGIBILITY==

Students – all currently enrolled university students.
Professionals – all independent artists and individuals working in a design-related field.

*All submitted artwork must be the original creation of the applicant.
*Students who wish to participate in the Student Marketplace event MUST also submit an artwork for the exhibition.

==SUBMISSION GUIDELINES==

1. One Work of Art:

  • Architecture/Interior Design: One 3D model, minimum 30x30cm to maximum 50x50cm.
  • Fashion Design: One wearable artwork (e.g. clothing, accessories, bags, scarves, etc.)
  • Visual Communications Design: One print at 300 DPI, minimum size A3 to maximum A1

*If selected, artists must provide any materials required to display their artwork.

2. Artist Statement:

  • Provide a brief statement (300-500 words) explaining how your work reflects the festival theme. Please include title, medium if necessary, and year of creation.

==ARTWORK SUBMISSION DEADLINE==

All artwork must be delivered to the festival venue by September 30, 2024.

Applicants are responsible for the transportation of their artwork.

==SELECTION PROCESS==

Due to limited space, there will be a selection process for artwork displayed at the festival’s exhibition.

The festival committee will carefully review all submissions and select the pieces that best fit the theme
and objectives of the event.

Artists whose works are selected will be contacted via the contact information provided on the application form on October 4, 2024 with further instructions and details. We appreciate your patience and encourage all participants to showcase their creativity and unique perspectives in their
submissions.

==STUDENT MARKETPLACE ARTWORK DEADLINE==

For those who wish to participate in the Student Marketplace, please ensure that your artistic goods and merchandise are delivered to the festival venue by October 5th, 2024. We reserve the right to deny
any goods that do not meet this deadline.

The festival committee reserves the right to reject any products that are deemed inappropriate.

==DISPLAY AND CARE==

PPDF organizers do not take responsibility for any damage or loss of artworks during the exhibition.

Applicants must handle their own artwork during the event and during the setup process.

Applicant must make a list of their asset in order to store their artwork in the storage room.

==SALES AND COMMISSIONS (FOR STUDENT MARKETPLACE ONLY)==

There will be a 10% commission on all goods sold in the Student Marketplace. This will help to fund future festivals and workshops.

==COPYRIGHT AND REPRODUCTION==
Artists retain copyright of their submitted artworks.

By submitting artwork, artists grant PPDF organizers the right to use images of their artworks for
promotional purposes.

==AGREEMENT==
By submitting an application, the artist agrees to abide by these terms and conditions.

PPDF organizers reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
